This week my 6 year old MacBook went in to a coma. It had done this several times before, but always came back awake after powering down. This time he was gone. Oh he was still alive on the inside but unable to communicate with the outside world. The video portion of the machine was gone forever.
With the help of a Mac expert (thanks Stewart!) it was possible to drag the 15 inch Mac's consciousness in to the sleek young body of a brand new 13 inch model. Everything is there just as it was on the older machine except a few AU plugs that failed the Mountain Lion Test of Ultimate Worthiness. After 6 years the newer model has more of everything and costs over $1,000 less than the larger machine. Still I am sad to see the old one off. My first Mac.
This is like the end of Old Yeller. He lives on in a new generation. One that will be able to run Logic 10. I hope...
